The Salvation Army Needs Gently Used Kids Clothing and Shoes to Help Prepare For Back To School This Fall

Clothing drive to be held on Saturday, June 6th from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm  - Southminster Presbyterian Church Parking Lot, next to the Mount Lebanon Library.

Mount Lebanon, PA, May 28, 2020:  As we complete the most unique school year in history, filled with online learning and social distancing, The Salvation Army is preparing for the eventual return to school in the Fall.

That’s why, in cooperation with the Mt. Lebanon Police Association and the Mt. Lebanon High School, we will be holding a collection effort on Saturday, June 6 from 9:00 a.m to 1:00 p.m. in the Parking lot of the Southminster Presbyterian Church.  Volunteers will be on hand to take your donations of gently used kids clothing and shoes for grades K-12.

Items in particular demand include jeans, shorts, polos, sweatshirts, sneakers, dress shoes and dress clothes in all sizes and genders.

Each year, The Salvation Army assists students in need with clothes, backpacks, school supplies, haircuts, and more, in order to make sure they return to the classroom safe and ready to learn.

Donations will also be accepted after the drive at The Salvation Army Pittsburgh Temple Worship and Service Center located at 1060 McNeilly Road.  The donations will be sorted and then distributed to those in need prior to the start of the new school year in the fall.

“Cleaning out your closets is always a great feeling and we know many people have being doing just that during these past two months.  Now, they have the opportunity to share those items with those truly in need.  What a blessing that can be,” said Lieutenant Jonathan Lewis, Commanding Officer of The Salvation Army Pittsburgh Temple Worship and Service Center.
