National Salvation Army Week Celebrated Across The Country During The Week of May 9th through the 15th

Carnegie, PA, May 9, 2015:  Created by a declaration by President Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1954, this is a week to recognize the work of The Salvation Army and all the good that is done through financial contributions and volunteerism by the companies and individuals who want to give back to their communities.  The President had this to say about The Salvation Army:

“Among Americans, The Salvation Army has long been a symbol of wholehearted dedication to the cause of human brotherhood … Their work has been a constant reminder to us all that each of us is neighbor and kin to all Americans. Giving freely of themselves, the men and women of The Salvation Army have won the respect of us all.”

—Dwight D. Eisenhower

Major Deb Sedlar, Divisional Commander of The Western Pennsylvania Division of The Salvation Army credits its supporters:  “The Salvation Army is a catalyst for positive change.  The impact that we make on communities through our social service programs would not be possible without those who give so generously of their time, talent and treasure to help their neighbors in need.”
