IT’S TIME TO RAISE THE JOLLY ROGER  -- FUNDRAISE ---  THAT IS! LOCAL SCHOOLS INVITED TO RAISE FUNDS FOR LESS FORTUNATE KIDS THROUGH THE SALVATION ARMY AND POSSIBLY WIN GREAT PRIZES PROVIDED BY THE PITTSBURGH PIRATES!

Pittsburgh, PA, February 5, 2019:   While baseball season is still a couple of months away, “Fundraise The Jolly Roger” in support of The Pittsburgh Pirates and The Salvation Army & WTAE’s project Bundle-up Program starts NOW!  Long time supporters of WTAE project Bundle-Up, The Pittsburgh Pirates have teamed up with The Salvation Army on a new, simple fundraising idea for local schools.  The online based fundraiser gives the schools a great deal of flexibility in how they go about raising funds to support the less fortunate from their own community, while having the chance to win prizes provided by The Pittsburgh Pirates including Pirate wristbands, ball caps, game tickets for the entire school, and even the opportunity to appear on TV during the WTAE project Bundle-up Telethon in December of 2019 for the school that raises the most money.  In addition, the top fundraising school, provided they are located within a one-hour drive from PNC Park, will win a Pittsburgh Pirate Player visit to the school!

WTAE project Bundle-up provides new winter outwear, including coats, hats, gloves, scarves and boots to children whose families cannot afford to purchase these necessities.  In addition to enjoying the much-needed warmth during our cold Western PA winters, children who get to participate in WTAE project Bundle-up shopping trips also benefit from the time spent with caring volunteers.  “Fundraise The Jolly Roger” is easy, fun, and teaches the participants compassion for others and community spirit, provides opportunities to earn prizes, and shows support for the hometown team!  Talk about a win-win-win!

Schools are encouraged to register online and begin fund raising right away, as prizes are awarded to the schools that attain certain milestones for fundraising the fastest.  For example, the first 20 schools to reach the $500 level will receive 50 Pirates wristbands.  The competition runs from February 1st through 12:00 pm on April 30, 2019.  More information on prize incentives, ideas for fundraising, and the online registration link to participate can be found athttp://salvationarmywpa.org/ftjr
